That's all she need to spear those pirates like stationary training dolls with a spear... on a ship... that's in battle... while having long hair.Yeah, I wouldn't be able to do that ever unless I cut my hair either.I'm 14. I started his books when I was... 13? I was way too dim to see all the details in the books- (the covers of his last series suck for the American versions, especially on Book 4: The Battle for Skandia- seriously, it makes me cringe) but as I age, instead of tiring, I see more. I see more, and I think harder. In all, his books are genious.As far as helping you pick out books for someone to read, you should seriously consider getting them Book One of "The Rangers Apprentice" by John, it'll help them decide if they like his writing style or not- or even simply the items inside. Besides, if they keep reading, the first series will help you later understand the next.Just make sure to get the books in order. I skipped one and was completely lost. I went back though, so everything males sense now.The covers may look old fashioned or bad (depends which books and which country) but the inside is full of great thought and details.If you want your kid to learn how to deal with diplomacy and think through situations more, I recommend and highly commend this author's books.(For the record, I'm on tumblr. Look up Norhacane and you'll find me- I stalk that tag. I've always wondered if there was a fandom for either series....)

5 STARSI have had this book on my shelf to read for a year. I really enjoy John Flanagan's stories. I admit to having read them all now. Can't wait for next one coming out this fall.This is the third in the Brotherband Chronicles. It finishes the story line of finding the Andomal that was stolen on their watch.They are truly a Brotherband. They have faults and strength each one different from the others.I started the book and could not put it down till I had finished.Hal uses his mind and skills that he has been taught to lead the band to find the Raven crew that had stolen the Andomal.This is one series that I will reread again and enjoy it. It is fast paced adventure a crew of boys, a girl and one armed warrior working together.

I don't think there's anything I didn't like about this whole series. It's one of the best I've read in ages. I recommend this book to all ages, male or female. It will definitely appeal to boys (old or young). However, I'm not a boy or young and I loved it! The battle scenes were so exciting my pulse raced and my blood pressure was probably up as well. You'll feel like you really know the characters. Very well written, you won't want to put it down. I'm telling all my friends and relatives, "read the Brotherband Chronicles, you won't be sorry"!

The author has a way of writing in a clean, crisp smooth language that makes the story a pleasure to enjoy. The excitement, the adventure and the continual plot changes make for excellent reading.Don't start this book, or this series, unless your prepared to get hooked.

I read The Brotherband Chronicles: Book Three: The Invaders. It is about Hal and the Heron brotherband. a brotherband is sort of a club that you join when you turn 16, it is how you become a man in Skandia. The Heron brotherband was in charge of guarding the andomal, a precious stone, and they let it get stolen. To avoid shame, they left if pursuit of Zavac and his crew, to take back the Andomal. I liked this book a lot because it has a thrilling storyline and keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. It is really good, descriptive writing, I could see every scene in my head.I can't wait until the next book in this series comes out. I would reccomend this book to anyone over 11.

John Flanagan can truly tell a phenomenal story! Brotherband Chronicles is full of comraderie, battles, heroism and so much more... everything great stories should have. Thoroughly enjoyed this book!

My son started with the Rangers apprentice series, and loves them! He shared these books with all his buddies and they discuss them endlessly. When that series ended the author created this series and my son and his friends became avid followers! I love that I don't have to encourage him to read. This author has sparked his imagination and he and his friends follow his writing with enthusiasm.

I am a huge Matthew Kelly fan and this book is great. Whether you say the rosary daily, randomly or have never said it at all it does an excellent job of explaining why we say it, the amazing things it can do in your life plus HOW to say it (with a few different methods and step by step instructions). Great book.

In the last two years I have read 14 books by Matthew Kelly. And I have found that all of them have helped me grow in my faith. From reading 'Why Am I Here?' with my children, many times over to just finishing this read and devouring it in 4 sittings over 2 days. It all Started with 'Rediscover Advent' back in 2015, and now in the fall of 2017 I am reading 'Rediscover the Rosary' and absolutely loved it. There are a number of books currently available in the Rediscover series, it Started with 'Rediscover Catholicism' and this books mentions another forthcoming volume 'Rediscover the Saints'. A quick search on Good reads returns over 1100 results, Kindle almost 600, and books on Amazon returns over 4000 titles. And I have read 3 books on the rosary this year almost a dozen over the last 10 year. And I have two others I plan on reading that have been sitting in my 'to be read pile'. So why would I read another one? Well To start with everything I have read by Matthew Kelly has been excellent, he writes in such an engaging and succinct style. I find that when I read his books I often feel like he was writing directly to me. It was the same with this book. I have been praying the rosary almost every day for a few years now. And I feel this statement by Matthew is bang on:"Prayer makes me a better person. It makes me a better friend, a better father, a better husband, a better son and brother, a better employer and leader, a better citizen of this country, and a better member of the human family. Prayer makes me a-better-version-of-myself."And on why he prays the Rosary:"It just works. When I pray the Rosary, I am a better person. It makes me a better son, brother, husband, father, employer, neighbor, citizen, and a better member of the human family. It brings an incredible peace; it teaches us to slow down, calm down, let go, surrender, and listen. The Rosary teaches us how to just be, and that is not a small or insignificant lesson. In some ways it is the perfect prayer for busy people in a busy, noisy, confused world."And those two quotes sum up why we pray and why we pray the Rosary! I also really appreciated this statement:"I don't know how often you should pray the Rosary. There are some people who think everyone should pray the Rosary every day. In my own life, there have been months, even years, when I have prayed the Rosary every day. At other times, I have gone weeks and months without praying it. Generally I have discovered that when I make time for this simple but profound practice of prayer, I am a better person. When I have the discipline to pray the Rosary regularly, I seem to have a certain calmness and a heightened awareness, which makes me more readily disposed to living a life of virtue."Kelly does not present a formula, but he speaks from his own experience and the benefits from praying it more often. The book also focuses some on prayer life in general and the Rosary being a great tool for prayer. There are three appendices, the first is the predictable How To Pray The Rosary. Before I had finished it I had already purchased another from Kelly to start next. I know that I will also likely reread this book again in a few months. And I can think of dozens of people I would love to hand this book to. This is another great read by Matthew Kelly, and I know reading and applying the advice in it, will help transform your prayer life, your life, and help you become the best version of yourself!

We were at our lowest and in need of a a miracle for a desperate situation - with nowhere else to turn the ROSARY and my grandfathers constant advice to us as kids came to mind: “Pray to Mary”! But how to pray to her after such a long time. This author, this book not only provided us the guidance, but hope while we doubted and bolstered our faith that “ prayer works”, especially this prayer! It reminded me of Jesus’ promise that “ Gods will shall prevail on earth as it is in heaven” - and that if God is for us, who can be against us - that “everything”is impossible! All glory, all praise to G-d! This book made me thankful to Mary for her magnificent and powerful path to God via her Rosary. and helped bring into perspective her kindness and love by reminding that it was she, who provided such a powerful path to God, her help in our times of need and a reliable and true way to salvation.

As usual Matthew Kelly's books teach me a lot about the topic. They make you think about what you are doing and how to expand your faith in Christ.

I thought I had finished listening to this book, very well written, and was thinking of purchasing another by Dr. Scott Hahn. Good listening and I really like running and listening.

I read scientific and clinical abstracts every single day about Parkinson's, and I learned from this book, this book consolidated my knowledge, and did so in an entertaining comic-book style tale, reminiscent of the best work of Harvey Pekar, the friend and disciple of the great genius of "underground" cartooning, Robert Crumb. This book is evidence of Parkinsonian creativity, that strange gift the disease slips you with its left hand while it is plunging its dagger into your back with its right hand.

This book describes the PD journey in an easy, very understandable way via the use of cartooning. As one diagnosed with PD about 7 years ago, I was amazed how much of the author's experience matched my own. The only major exception is that the author was diagnosed while still in his prime working years which lead to very understandable anxieties regarding livelihood, etc. If you have PD, buy it--at least for your loved ones, who will eventually become part of your caregiver team. Great, great insights!!

This book is honest, revealing and educational. My husband has PD and we feel we're well informed, but this is such an excellent and easy to read summary. Peter's provided a huge service sharing his feelings -- it is like a PD or caregiver's support group for those of us who don't have one within fifty miles -- or if you think one wouldn't help. When I started My Degeneration for my bedtime reading my husband, having already read it, said wait until daytime. I'm glad I did, because it is very frank, but Peter also made me laugh. I'm going to recommend this book to some friends who ask well meaning but INSENSITIVE questions about PD -- not to mention some physicians of our acquaintance.

A beautifully drawn and written story. Peter, our family loves you. Everyone who might ever come into contact with a person with Parkinson's should get this book. Yes, that probably means everyone in the country. It helps explain and prepare and, weirdly, offer a sense of calm. My best wishes to Peter and his wonderful wife.

No question that this can be a dark book, but it's dealing with the real feelings of people who have PD. Peter gets it, and shares a hysterical world view that is spot on. I gave this book to members of my family so that they would better understand 1) what I'm going through, and 2) my mindset. Also, author is very funny - great sardonic wit.

My biggest struggles before picking up this book were a relatively weak working memory of Geometry and Algebra, and a lack of set of effective strategies to solve the trickier GMAT quant problems in the time allotted. The explanations provided in GMAT specific prep-books provided complicated, often extremely lengthy methods for solving the problems. However, to succeed on the GMAT, you need to have a strong knowledge base, and a variety of strategies at your disposal that allow you to skip unnecessarily time consuming math to solve the problem and move onto the next one. This book provides you just that: an overview of the basics you need to know, and the tools to create a broad foundation of strategies you need to answer any question quickly and effectively. The strategies are a different way of approaching both Math and the Quant section, but ones that pay off immensely. I would recommend this to anyone looking to up their Quant score on the GMAT or any standardized test.

This book is written extremely well and I recommend it for anyone who is not just looking for preparing GMAT and GRE but also for landing consulting positions. Thanks to this book I was able to land a position at one of the top consulting firms in the world. I like the logical layout and the theory behind it that really helps to set the rules and approaches to do problem solving exercises and at the same time it is a great way to re-learn math that we tend to forget after school/university. A great guide and I would say the best I found in the market since I bought several books for GMAT and consulting applications. Also a very reasonable price! You will not be disappointed.

While I have never been particularly good at standardized tests, this book was beyond helpful in seeing and understanding word problems differently (I have used Kaplan, Manhattan Prep & Veritas in the past). It helped me make connections on a variety of basic math functions that I did not recognize before and offered a standardized approach to solve some of the trickier problems that plagued me in the past.I would highly recommend whether you are a novice or an advanced test taker.

This book helped me take my GMAT score up 100 points and was the only learning material I used for Quant. I am an average math student with ADD and this book was the perfect solution. Margo does an incredible job at breaking down complex topics into easy, digestible steps. The tables and labels approach, converting words to math, and overall layout of the book is pure gold. Fantastic book with great tips. I raised my score 100 points on the GMAT by implementing the techniques discussed therein. The author has a natural way of re-explaining things you do, or do not, know to promote better understanding and efficiency. As compared to other books I used to study, All Your Word Problems Solved, presents the material in a no nonsense manner and gives relevant example problems to reinforce the concepts.

I would give this book a negative rating if possible, I couldn't find not one single practice problem.All theory, but no practice problems, how are students supposed to learn if they cannot try some problems.
