About the Author
Los Angeles-born Bruce W. Talamon (1949) has been a fixture in the film industry as a stills photographer for 39 years after a prolific career capturing R&B royalty in the electrifying 1970s. His photographs were used as key poster art in numerous ad campaigns for all the major Hollywood studios. A contract photographer for Time magazine in the 1980s, his work has also appeared in People Magazine, Rolling Stone, Ebony, Vanity Fair, and NPR. He is also the author of Bob Marley: Spirit Dancer.

I've had my book for a few weeks now and can't stop going through and remembering. Beautiful photographs. There is nor ever has been anything else like this book. Get yourself a copy and give one to someone you know will Love it as well.
This is somewhat of a disappointment, especially considering the price. I am a professional photographer myself, and I realize that art is subjective. My opinion is, much more effort seemed to go into the way the book itself was designed. Most of his photography in this collection is not amazing, unusual or thought provoking. Also, the pictures were purposely arranged to make the book longer and larger, thus the justification, I suppose, to sell it for $50 or more. I am deep into R&B, Soul and psychedelic music and know these artists. I was just dismayed to see such ordinary images of them. I hesitated so long before I put out the money for this book. Money wasted. Very sad.
Gorgeous, rich images that capture an era that will never be forgotten with this tome.
Nothing will explain how my dad looked when he opened this book up. It took him back to an amazing time in his life and started a conversation that would have not occurred without it. This book covered his favorite music, from his favorite era, with his favorite artists. Now we both own copies.
Absolutely beautiful photographs!. I was overcome with nostalgia seeing all those magnificent R&B, Funk and Soul artists in their prime. Also, Taschen produces high quality well manufactured books.
